ENEEP Project

About the ENEEP project

Recognizing that the enhancement of education and the attraction of students within the EU rests on robust research programs, international initiatives, and collaborative efforts involving government bodies, research centers, and industry stakeholders, significant investments in these areas become imperative. There is a strong demand for a competent workforce in the nuclear sector due to retirements and the industry's expansion, particularly in the context of new nuclear power plant projects. It has become evident that bridging the skills gap necessitates a strategic combination of academic education and targeted E&T and VET programs. The competencies of the incoming workforce must be cultivated to meet the evolving demands of the nuclear industry.

Numerous international initiatives have been actively addressing the challenges in the field, and complementing these efforts, the European Nuclear Experimental Educational Platform (ENEEP) is committed to making nuclear E&T and VET accessible to a broad audience. The primary objective of ENEEP was to meet the educational needs of European users by significantly enhancing their experimental education and hands-on activities within nuclear curricula, with a particular emphasis on nuclear safety and radiation protection. Originating as an international project, ENEEP initially received funding from the European Union under the topic NFRP-2018-7: "Availability and use of research infrastructures for education, training, and competence building"

Timeline of the ENEEP project

Commencing in 2019, ENEEP embarked on a planned four-year implementation period with the overarching goal of establishing the ENEEP association, ensuring the continuity of the project's legacy beyond its completion.

Partners of the ENEEP project

The founding members of the ENEEP project consist of five distinguished institutes from the central European region, each possessing a wealth of experience in collaborative endeavours related to experimental nuclear education, training and competence building. Unified by their shared commitment to advancing these fields, these institutes have engaged in years of fruitful collaboration.
